Sleeping Bag
Sleeping Bag

Is my sleeping bag good enough for the inca trail?
I am going on the Inca trek in April. I have a down Mountain Designs Traveler 400 sleeping bag. It's rated 1-10 degrees. Will that be enough for the trek or am I kidding myself completely. I have good qualities thermals I could alway wear to bed. Do you think I will be all right?
I never support buying new stuff that you don't need, but I did live in the Andes for a good long while, and that sleeping bag won't be nearly warm enough for you. Even though you're right on the equator it gets COLD!!! at night, especially above 3000meters.
Look for something that is rated -9C (15F) You can also get a silk liner which adds a couple degrees of warmth, protects the bag from your body dirt and on warmer nights can be used to put over your face to keep bugs at bay.
Here's a sleeping bag that I recommend:

For what its worth, I am a wilderness ranger in the Rockies and have also worked in the deep field in Antarctica.
